"I have not had home made for years, use mrs.smith frozen pie, but her harty is to spices and her plain is to plain. This pie is just right, nice crust, sweet and just the right tiny amount of spice . No problem with crust burning. My mother was the pie maker and I grew up on her pies, she used the recipe on the pumpkin pie can.
Both by taste and what my body can handle, I like more like penn Dutch cooking , I can never handle spice. If you like a spicy p pie, this will be bland for you.
For me, a good crust, pumpkin pie filling, sugar, some nutmeg and cinnamon (I think) and I am good to go."

"This was the worst pumpkin pie. It did not taste like any pumpkin pie I had before. Wanted to save time and ordered for Thanksgiving, will never buy this pie again. It is now in the garbage."

"I ordered this pie to help with Thanksgiving cooking chores. What a disappointment. It is worse than bland, the crust burnt all the way under the pie even with foil strips, it isn't even an orange color and does not smell like pumpkin pie at all. No one would eat this pie, it went into the trash.=("

"We placed an order for this pumpkin pie to have at Thanksgiving. We had previously purchased our pumpkin pies from bakeries and grocery stores as well as restaurants.This was the best pumpkin pie we have eaten! We loved the creamy texture and taste. Of note, we did follow the thawing, cooking, and cooling instructions exactly as instructed on the box. We will definitely be ordering this pie again!"

"I purchased two pumpkin pies for Thanksgiving. It was truly disappointing. I heard comments, like "it is very bland", "it is bland", "there are no spices in it to give flavor" and finally "the worst pumpkin pie I have ever tasted". Needless to say, I will not be purchasing this pie again. I wish I had tried it before the big day. Not having a good pumpkin pie to finish off a good turkey was sad.
I gave it 3 stars instead of one for one reason, I was told that this pie is perfect for those individuals who have never had pumpkin pie before or don't like pumpkin pie because the flavor of this pie is not overwhelming."

"This coutld be any custard type pie. It is totally lacking in spice and is very flat. Would not buy again. It needs cinnamon, nutmeg, clove etc. I wouldn't know it was a pumpkin pie except for the label on the box - it is that tasteless."

"it tasted like peppery goo. no pumpkin taste at all. no flavor at all. did not even cut like a pumpkin pie. it was like cutting through goo.
it was the worst pumpkin pie i have ever eaten. threw out half of it.
wont let my granddaughters eat any of it. had been saving it for them."

"Thought we would try this pie pre Thanksgiving to see if we wanted to order one for Christmas.Some people here said it needs more spices but it seemed one spice was a little overwhelming to my taste. It could be the nutmeg I am not sure. Maybe I am used to the Pumpkin pies my mom made so this pie was a disappointment for me. I will not buy again. My husband said he liked it but he didn't say to order again."

"I loved this pie! I actually bought it to keep on hand for Thanksgiving since they said quantities were limited. But I had to try it out. Unlike another reviewer, I think the spices have a great intensity in the flavor. I will say that it is better warm or room temp than after being in the frig overnight. The crust is buttery and flaky. I ordered another for Thanksgiving!"

"We love pumpkin pie in my house so I really was hoping we'd love this. But both my husband and I thought this pumpkin pie was sorely lacking in spices. It barely had any aroma while baking in the oven and it's very bland tasting. I like my pumpkin pie on the spicy side, so I can smell and taste the cinnamon and nutmeg and ginger, this just didn't seem like a pumpkin pie to us."

"The year before last I bought this pie for Thanksgiving and it was a hit however there was none left over for myself. So luckily my representative was able to find me another one in January so I baked it according to instructions and it smelled great and tasted great. It has good spices but does not overpower the pumkin flavor. So last year I bought two pies in October one for Thanksgiving and one for after the holidays. I will do the same thing this October."
